The NIHR Surgical MedTech Co-operative provides seed funding, academic support (biosensing, engineering, robotics, microfluidics, nanotechnology, etc), consultation and advice to assist promising medical technology ideas from academia, industry, patients and the NHS through the technology development process towards commercialisation and patient benefit. We add value by:
- facilitating the generation of clinical and economic evidence
- enabling clinician feedback and clinical use
- including patient experience for research collaborations and technology development

Health Innovation Surgery
Every 6 weeks we host a lively session for innovators and industry at our Management Group meeting that serves as a sounding board for new ideas. Innovators will have access to a diverse group of clinicians and academics, who will be able to provide their expertise, and act as potential collaborators. Meetings are open to absolutely anyone active or interested in solving clinical problems with novel devices.
